Issue 008 “RELAX AND TAKE NOTES” began as an ode to college party culture and the spirit of spring break -  but the design process led me to an important realization about life itself.

In college, I often passed up on the “once in a lifetime experiences”, like spring break, in favor of training, studying, or just saving money. I’d always burn out and fall short of my goal, and then pick myself up and keep trying. This trend of putting off vacations and breaks continued long after I graduated, and the results… they stayed the same.

Looking back, I realize now that I was too afraid of failure to let myself enjoy the most beautiful and fun parts of life - the breaks. For a while, I thought of trips and fun experiences as just expensive distractions. In designing this collection, I realized that the opposite is true - that breaks are not only worth it, but they are also what keep you working hard, and that the memories you make pay dividends for life.

So ISSUE 008 ultimately became a reminder to myself, and to anyone who needs to hear: taking a break is a wise investment.

So relax, take some (bank)notes, and go make memories every once in a while - just be careful not to burn through all of it.*
